1、 Gas binding refers to the condition where the pump is not filled with the conveyed liquid before starting the pump, or air seeps into the pump during operation. Due to the density of the gas being less than that of the liquid, the centrifugal force generated is small, and therefore the air cannot be thrown out, resulting in insufficient vacuum at the center of the impeller to suck the liquid into the pump. Although the impeller is constantly rotating, the centrifugal pump loses its self suction ability and cannot transport liquid, which is called gas binding.
2、 Cavitation and cavitation refer to the occurrence of a large number of bubbles in the liquid at the inlet of the impeller when the pressure on the liquid surface at the storage tip is constant, such as when the pressure at the center of the impeller decreases to a saturation pressure equal to the current temperature of the conveyed liquid.
These bubbles quickly condense after entering the high-pressure zone with the liquid, causing a vacuum to form in the space where the bubbles are located. The trapped liquid particles rush towards the center of the bubbles at an extremely fast speed, causing instantaneous impact pressure, which quickly damages the metal surfaces of the impeller, pump casing, and other parts; At the same time, accompanied by pump body vibration, noise is emitted, and the flow rate, head, and efficiency of the pump are significantly reduced. This phenomenon is called cavitation.
